By the shores of Sanya Bay, starlight and waves dance together, as film and dreams resonate in harmony. On December 9, the Closing Ceremony of the 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) and the Golden Coconut Awards Ceremony were successfully held at Sanya CCCC Phoenix Island. The 7-day film event was co-hosted by the China Media Group and the People's Government of Hainan Province. Filmmakers from around the world gathered in Sanya, using the medium of light and shadow to forge a path of international cultural exchange. Dazzling starlight illuminated the night sky of Grand Park. As the Chief Strategic Partner of this edition of the festival, CCCC Phoenix Island joined the stars in celebrating the grand occasion, jointly witnessing the announcement of the ten Golden Coconut Awards, which has become another landmark cultural event in the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
Coinciding with the 130th anniversary of the birth of world cinema, the 120th anniversary of the birth of Chinese cinema, and the imminent island-wide customs closure operation of the Hainan Free Trade Port, CCCC Phoenix Island participated as a "Pioneer in Free Trade Port Construction." Leveraging its locational advantage of being "connected to the city's core commercial district via a cross-sea bridge," along with the scarce resources of an approximately 36.5-hectare island area and a roughly 10-kilometer coastline, it served as the core main venue for the Closing Ceremony. The coastal cultural landmark it created—Grand Park, with its expansive outdoor space and immersive ocean view experience, provided a perfect setting akin to a "natural film studio" for stage performances and audience interaction. During the preparation phase, CCCC Phoenix Island, in collaboration with the Sanya Municipal Government and the festival organizing committee, established a dedicated working group. They advanced site renovation, safety drills, and the formulation of emergency plans with high standards and strict requirements, ensuring the error-free operation of the Closing Ceremony and demonstrating outstanding coordination and execution capabilities.
At the Closing Ceremony, the stage design was eye-catching. Curved LED screens inspired by "waves" seamlessly blended with the night view of Sanya Bay. When the award presenters announced the "Best Film Award," the visual effect of "surging giant waves" on the background screen drew gasps of amazement from the entire audience. This creative design not only highlighted the unique advantage of CCCC Phoenix Island's "exclusive ocean view resources," but also brought an immersive cinematic experience to the global audience through the deep integration of technology and nature.
From a cruise home port to the international film arena, and from an infrastructure benchmark to a cultural tourism landmark, CCCC Phoenix Island has consistently implemented national strategies, connecting the present and future of the Free Trade Port. The Hainan Free Trade Port will officially launch its island-wide customs closure operation on December 18. The successful hosting of this festival not only added brilliance to the cultural calling card of the Hainan Free Trade Port, but also delivered a Hainan answer of cultural confidence to the world.
