Today, Possession, a short film written and directed by Ma Ao, officially commenced filming. It is one of the Top 6 short films of the Young Coconut Project Short Film Training Camp at the 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF), and a film production insurance support project.
The film focuses on the tense and undercurrent-filled relationship between the middle-aged boss Wang Ximing and his son Wang Hao. Long-term emotional blackmail and a repressive family atmosphere ultimately lead the father and son to an irreversible rupture.

Director and screenwriter Ma Ao graduated from the Directing Department of the Beijing Film Academy. His directed short films have been selected for multiple important domestic and international film festivals. Producer Yang Aoxing has participated in the production of numerous feature films, short films, and commercial projects, possessing extensive project experience.

The film also invited veteran actor Wei Yibo to play the role of "Wang Ximing". He has appeared in many well-known works such as The Revolutionary and Dream Home, and his calm and nuanced performance will inject deeper connotations into this complex and contradictory character.

Wei Ruguang, who plays the son "Wang Hao", is a highly promising young actor. His starring works have been selected for international film festivals and won awards, showcasing his unique temperament and versatility on the big screen.

Visually, Possession pursues a calm and repressive style. Through the extensive use of facial close-ups and partial body shots, it creates psychological tension and a sense of oppression, constructing an interwoven reality and fiction "performance site".
The 7th HIIFF will be held in early December in Sanya, Hainan Province, and the Top 6 short films of the Young Coconut Project will have industry screenings during the festival. We look forward to Possession provoking audience reflection and inquiry with its unique perspective and intense visual texture.
