When the industry seeks breakthroughs, creators look for support, and audiences crave new horizons, what tangible contributions can a film festival provide to meet the expectations of all parties?
This year's Young Coconut Project hopes to provide its own answer through the diversified development of its cultivation system. Within this system, the Feature Film Pitching Forum undoubtedly plays an irreplaceable role. From the initial call for entries to the preliminary and secondary review processes, this year's Young Coconut Project Feature Film Pitching Forum has clearly embraced genre as its guiding direction. It aims to deliver creative talents with growth potential and sustainable creativity to the industry, accumulating strength for the market's next breakthrough.
From November 1 to 2, the creative teams of the 30 shortlisted projects for the secondary review gathered in Beijing for roadshow presentations, facing the questions and feedback of the secondary review jury up close. During the roadshows, the creators demonstrated a profound concern for reality, a deep understanding of genre creation, and an in-depth exploration of their own life experiences.
The five secondary review jury members, Gao Linyang, Kang Chunlei, Liu Ruifang, Yu Xi, and Zhu Xiaochen (Fsorted alphabetically by the first letter of their pinyin surnames), provided feedback on project characteristics, textual details, and presentation methods. With their years of industry experience, they resonated with the talent and passion displayed by the creators.
After more than three months of collection, preliminary review, and secondary review, the 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) Young Coconut Project has officially announced its final shortlist. 15 projects have stood out and will travel to Hainan during the festival to present to the final jury and participate in one-on-one industry meetings, seeking opportunities for further development.
As a diverse ecosystem continues to emerge, the future of film becomes increasingly promising. The HIIFF Young Coconut Project opens its doors to industry partners and the creative community worldwide, looking forward to witnessing new creations together, rising like green coconuts from the soil, sunlight, and abundant water.
