7th Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) Industry Guest Registration Notice

As a pioneering project of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) connects the surging wave of global film development with the unique creative vein and consumer market of Chinese cinema. Since its inception, it has embedded an inclusive mindset and an open vision into its DNA, witnessing the flourishing growth of a film ecology that combines a global perspective with local characteristics.

Amidst a series of changes occurring worldwide, the significance of this inclusivity and openness has become increasingly prominent. On one hand, using film as a medium, HIIFF has inspired equal and diverse exchanges among people from different cultures and languages, helping us overcome barriers between civilizations and transform distant wisdom into tangible reality. Meanwhile, it is precisely this inclusivity and openness that makes the Hainan Island International Film Festival a convergence point for the new—not only new films and new projects, but also the exploration and discussion of new technologies and new knowledge.

As the wind turns cold once more in the north, we extend an invitation to every partner from the film and cultural industries to come together on the sunny Hainan Island, and to find a path to the future for the audiovisual art we all cherish.

For industry guests focused on technological advancements and shifts in viewing habits, this edition of HIIFF will showcase the brand-new possibilities brought by artificial intelligence to the field of visual creation, as well as the latest explorations in short drama creation and production. During the festival, a series of AIGC-themed screenings, forums, and ancillary events will be open to guests. Guests can also experience the International Short Drama Film and Television Base in Lingshui and participate in the Micro-Short Drama Summit, experiencing the Hainan vitality and global vision of the micro-short drama industry.

For industry guests seeking industrial localization and investment opportunities, the investment promotion activities of this edition of HIIFF will be highly anticipated. During the festival, an investment promotion conference will be held as a major event, introducing to industry guests the development advantages and investment policies of the film and television industry in the Hainan Free Trade Port after its closed-loop operation, holding transaction signing ceremonies for enterprises with intended agreements, and advancing film, television, and cultural industry investments in Hainan Province to yield tangible results.

The endless stream of new works and new projects from filmmakers is a "must-have" for many industry guests attending the festival. With the Young Coconut Project as its main axis, this edition of HIIFF encompasses four major components: Young Coconut Academy, Short Film Training Camp, Feature Film Pitching, and Market Screenings, showcasing the entire industry chain ecology from student works to completed feature films. Industry guests can not only learn project details by watching pitch presentations and market screenings, but also utilize the pioneering "end-to-end" 1v1 industry meeting privilege of this edition to schedule meetings with creators at different growth stages—including enrolled students, emerging talents, and established production companies—thereby discovering opportunities for collaboration and deals.

Industry guests with an international outlook, dedicated to "bringing out" and "bringing in" films, will find pleasant surprises in the international exchange section of this edition of HIIFF. At this crucial juncture of the free trade port's closed-loop operation, this edition of HIIFF has invited several internationally renowned senior filmmakers to participate in exchange activities such as official forums and Masterclass sharing. Furthermore, a Country of Honor section has been set up for the first time, focusing on friendly nations closely connected to China's film, television, and cultural industries, and inviting their representatives to Hainan to create collaborative opportunities with Chinese industry partners.

Finally, let us return to the festival's essential nature as a gathering. The screening of over a hundred outstanding films from home and abroad during the festival, along with a rich variety of carnival activities across the island, will present industry guests with the primal charm of cinema, calling forth our genuine passion for film.

As a major film festival opening at the end of each year, the Hainan Island International Film Festival provides industry partners with an opportunity for review and renewal, as well as an excellent time for gathering and dialogue. We look forward to meeting our partners in Hainan to explore the vast landscapes beyond the horizon together.
