Luhuitou Scenic Area is located in the southern part of Sanya's central urban area, with its southwestern foothills extending directly into the sea. It is the southernmost mountain peak in Hainan Province. Due to geological movements, this isolated island in the sea gradually connected with the South Ridge and Fire Ridge to form a peculiar land-tied island. A Li ethnic love legend circulates here: a brave young Li hunter chased a sika deer for nine days and nine nights. Finally, the deer looked back at the seaside and transformed into a beautiful girl. The two married and multiplied, and thus the place was named "Luhuitou" (Deer Looking Back), and Sanya is also known as "Deer City".
