01 / Facing the East: A Century of French-Chinese Cinema Special Exhibition
The history of Sino-French exchange on film; lost silent films see the light of day
"Facing the East: A Century of French-Chinese Cinema Special Exhibition" brings together outstanding Sino-French cinematic works, exploring the essence of Eastern and Western cultures through visual storytelling and showcasing the charm of diverse artistry.
In the depths of light and shadow, the "Facing the East" film list breaks through the cocoon of time. The history of Sino-French exchange on film and the rediscovery of lost silent films are like couriers of the years, delivering the cinematic masterpieces of the 1980s and 1990s. In that era, Chinese and French filmmakers used film as a vessel to cross the ocean of culture, engraving the secret language of exchange in every frame.
This special exhibition brushes away the dust of history, allowing these nearly forgotten treasures to shine once more. It guides the audience back to that era of frequent classics, exploring the subtle traces of Sino-French cinematic and cultural integration, reliving old dreams, and listening to the swan song of cross-cultural exchange resonating as the film reels turn.
